In compliance with the strictest safety and distancing restrictions, Santa Claus visited the Torņakalns and Gaiļezers sites of the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (CCUH) yesterday, December 22nd. He and his helpers delivered gifts to almost 450 young patients and gave a vibrant musical performance, creating a fairytale atmosphere at a safe distance for children who have to spend this Christmas in the hospital.

Every year, around 15,000 little in-patients are treated at the Children's Clinical University Hospital, and they need nutritious, healthy and tasty food to aid the recovery process. In order to offer improved healthy meals adapted to the tastes of younger patients, the Ēstprieks (Joy of Eating) movement was founded with support of Maxima and other responsible companies. The association “Latvian Red Cross” received more than five tonnes, or 12 000 dog and cat meals, for pets of the low-income people within the framework of the “Pet Days” campaign. This was achieved with the support of “Maxima” customers and SIA ”Mars Latvia”.

Today, on 23 December, Santa Claus, accompanied by his little elves, went to visit more than 400 of the little patients of the Children’s Clinical University Hospital at the Torņakalns, to create festive feelings. Yesterday, 5 December, marked the closing of Maxima Latvija’s and rehabilitation centre "Poga"’s joint charity,” Between a person and a good deed lies a single button”. The charity was held in all Maxima Latvija stores this autumn. In a month’s span EUR 20,985.00 was donated to child rehabilitation due to the active involvement of cooperation partners and customers.

On Saturday, 14 September, Children’s Rehabilitation Day was celebrated in the Ghetto Games Sports Base in Grīziņkalns (Riga, Pērnavas iela 42) – a celebration for children and teenagers with mobility impairment, their families, friends and relatives. The event jointly organised by the Rehabilitation Centre Poga and retail trade network SIA Maxima Latvija brought together more than 500 participants from all over Latvia.

Awards event for winners of the 2018/2019 season of the Latvian hockey championship for children and youth took place at the shopping and entertainment centre Akropole on Saturday, 1 June. Twenty seven of the best teams from all over Latvia came to Riga to participate in the awards ceremony where medals and awards were given to the best players in the tournaments, and to find out the most skilled teams of the hockey tournament.

Today, December 20th, Father Christmas and his elves went to visit more than 500 young patients at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital in the Torņakalns and Gaiļezers complexes to help deliver some holiday spirit. As these children will be spending Christmas in the hospital, Father Christmas and his elves surprised each little patient with gifts and invited them to take part in a creative Christmas workshop making Christmas ornaments.
