Today, on 23 December, Santa Claus, accompanied by his little elves, went to visit more than 400 of the little patients of the Children’s Clinical University Hospital at the Torņakalns, to create festive feelings. Given that the children will spend this holiday time at the hospital, Santa Claus and the elves cheered every little patient up with presents and Christmas songs.
Already in the early morning, Santa Claus with his helpers, jolly and musical elves, went to visit the little patients of the children’s hospital, going into every room and giving each child a specially crafted present.
“During Christmas time the children and families who have to be treated at the hospital, long for home more than ever. Some children are admitted to the hospital shortly before Christmas or on Christmas Eve, and that’s why it’s so important to cheer them up and inspire the feeling that they don’t need to lose the possibility to celebrate because of their sickness. For every child it’s like a miracle – to see Santa Claus in their room, and this event strengthens their faith in other miracles. Parents who see their children so happy in that moment feel supported and moved, which gives them the strength to fight for their child’s health. A big thanks to our Santa Claus – “Maxima Latvija”!”, Liene Dambiņa, the director of the Children’s hospital foundation said, expressing her gratitude.
“Christmas is the brightest and most beautiful time of the year, so we want to make it merry and full of miracles for those children who unfortunately have to spend their Christmas at the hospital.
