May 22, 2019

Today, on May 22, the rehabilitation centre “Poga” opened doors of its new home in Riga, Sēlpils street 2C thanks to “Maxima Latvija” support of 100 000 euros. Along with the new facilities for the rehabilitation centre for children, a new age in the rehabilitation sector in Latvia is emerging, providing varied and more innovative opportunities for the young patients to get rehabilitation treatments in Latvia.

The new rehabilitation centre "Poga" will have modern room rehabilitation equipment – a G-EO System robot from Switzerland, four TheraSuit physiotherapy cubicles from the US and two tDCS brain micropolarization machines, Galileo Med 25TT muscle training machine, Tobii alternative communication machine and a sensory room. Well-equipped session facilities will also be available on the new premises, a sensory room, a lift specially adapted for children with reduced mobility, a wardrobe, a lounge, a gym, a training room, as well as psychologist and nutrition specialist's offices. A special recreation room has been created for the parents of special children. Patients at "Poga" have 11 specialists available to them – two doctors and nine functional therapists.

"Last year, 8489 sessions and 1847 consultations were given to the young patients of "Poga", which is by 60% more than in the first year of operation. By working actively, we realized that Latvian children with functional disabilities deserve more: more varied rehabilitation facilities, new services and opportunities," says Rūta Dimanta, founder of the rehabilitation centre “Poga”, regarding the decision to take the challenge and look for new and larger premises for the rehabilitation centre "Poga" that would be able to provide Latvian children more accessible rehabilitation. The new premises of "Poga" in Pārdaugava were created thanks to the donations of companies and society as well as with the help of a bank loan; they marks a new stage in the development of the Latvian rehabilitation sector for children.

While opening the premises of the new rehabilitation centre "Poga", its largest supporter "Maxima Latvija" presented a celebratory gift of 100 000 euros with a goal – to ensure modern and more specialized rehabilitation process for Latvian children – in mind, thus allowing to take care of larger and safer steps of the younger "Poga" patients in the future." We stand up for families and their well-being, so for two years we have been alongside with the children's rehabilitation centre "Poga" to help children with functional disabilities. During these two years, together with our customers and partners we have already donated 314 thousand euros in order for more and more children to receive the rehabilitation courses – we thank everyone for the cooperation!" says "Maxima Latvija" CEO Andris Vilcmeiers.
