For the second year in a row, Maxima Latvia has received a high Platinum rating in the Institute for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility’s (InCSR) Sustainability Index. As part of this rating, InCSR evaluated Maxima Latvija’s corporate strategy, direct and indirect impact management, and its relationship with employees, society and business partners.
“I am proud that MAXIMA Latvija has received Platinum category, one of the highest Sustainability Index ratings, for the second year in a row. This evaluation confirms that we, as a business which acts in society, are on a good direction. Also, it reinforces us keep continuing improving our processes in order to consistently reduce impact on the environment,” explains Maxima Latvija CEO Karolina Zygmantaite.
On a group level, Maxima Grupe is systematically improving sustainability performance. This May, the Group received a comprehensive Morningstar Sustainalytics ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating of 21.7 points, which indicates overall low ESG risk level in the Group’s material sustainability topics. This affirms Maxima Grupe’s commitment to uphold responsible business practices and encourage sustainability.
In 2021, the company supported social causes and local communities, and continued to implement improvements to energy efficiency and targeted reductions of environmental impact. To ensure long-term public health and wellbeing, Maxima continued to actively support projects and initiatives aimed at encouraging healthy habits and lifestyle in children and adolescents, including child rehabilitation, youth sports, and various local community initiatives. In 2021, total support to various communities reached around half a million Euro.
